Our Programming

Our nine-month experiential curriculum includes three design reviews that guide students through clinical assessment, prototype creation, and business development. Our teams receive access to several resources, to include funding, lab and workshop space, prototyping tools and equipment, legal services, and mentorship from experts. Additionally, our students get the opportunity to pitch in various competitions, including our annual University of Michigan Demo Day and National Demo Day.

Team Leader Orientation (September)

Once we have received applications from team leaders, we host a brief team leader orientation to provide more insight into Sling Health and discuss team leader responsibilities.

Problem Day (September)

Problem Day is Sling Health's kickoff event, jumpstarting team formation around the clinical problems they want to tackle throughout the year. Problem Day starts with team leads presenting a quick pitch to potential team members about the clinical problems they are interested on working on. This is followed by an informal networking session where team leads and team members can further meet to organically create problem teams.

Design Reviews 1-3 (November - March)

Throughout the year, students have the opportunity to pitch to professionals and instructors from a range of backgrounds to gather feedback on product and business milestones. There are three design reviews from November - March leading up to Demo Day.

Demo Day (April)

Demo Day is Sling Health's flagship event, representing the culmination of the teams’ yearlong progress through the program. Teams showcase their innovations to entrepreneurs, clinicians, faculty, and/or investors while they vie in poster and pitch competitions to earn financial prizes from Sling Health.

Demo Day provides teams with the space to unveil their creations and gain recognition. Teams have the opportunity to build connections with established entrepreneurs, insightful clinicians, and potential investors. Financial prizes help jumpstart their transitions into full-fledged companies.

Prizes are awarded to the top posters and pitches, as determined by judges’ scores and by most in-person votes, so bring your friends and colleagues!

National Demo Day (April)

Teams can apply to attend National Demo Day. At National Demo Day, students participate in a poster and pitch competition to earn financial prizes and recognition from Sling Health. Students compete against students from across all Sling Health chapters, such as Washington University in St. Louis, Texas A&M, and UCLA. You can find a full list of Sling Health chapters here.
